The European Union will soon introduce legislation to ensure products in priority areas that have a high loading on the environment, or for which there is high potential for circularity have digital records attached to them. These records will include a complete history of the item from material sourcing through to end of life recycling. This will be in the form of an NFC / RFID chip or QR code. Over the life of the product, anyone who interacts with it can scan the chip to access information such as where it was sold and on what date, and view any repairs that have taken place. Whilst this legislation will be introduced by the EU, other regions will have to follow suit, especially if their products are likely to end up in that region.
In this Webinar we will go through what we know about the legislation already, what we expect to happen and how manufacturers and stakeholders down the supply chain can do to prepare for this using by compliance management software such as RiConnect.
We will go through the uploading, storage and retrieval of vital information, and discuss information security and obstacles along the way. We will also discuss co-operation with key trade associations and regulatory bodies.
The DPP will empower businesses through transparency and traceability to achieve their sustainability goals, and spur on the digital revolution.
