This webinar presents the experience of the Instituto Adolfo Lutz (Brazil) in implementing FT-IR spectroscopy using the IR-Biotyper® for Streptococcus pneumoniae serotyping. Focusing on the most prevalent invasive serotypes in Brazil, we demonstrate how this approach improves speed, cost-effectiveness, and reliability in routine pneumococcal surveillance. The results highlight the potential of FT-IR–based serotyping as a valuable tool to support public health laboratories and vaccine impact monitoring.
Key Learning Objectives
- How FTIR can be used for serotype determination.
- How FTIR can help to reduce costs, time and reliability for pneumococcal surveillance.
- Principles o FTIR technology and workflow.
- How a standardized FTIR based serotyping can support public health and impact vaccine strategies.
