The Nuclear Industry today is in a transformative phase with new SMR´s and Generation 4 plants being developed. The new cooling techniques used require new materials that can withstand the more aggressive corrosion environments. Alleima has extensive experience in materials in other areas of use that can also be of interest for the new Nuclear Industry transformation.
The webinar will explore the range of materials that Alleima currently offers for use in the nuclear transformation sector. Many of these materials are already approved for nuclear applications, ensuring they meet industry standards. In addition, Alleima has extensive experience with a variety of other materials that, while not yet certified for nuclear use, show great potential for future applications in this field. Furthermore, the possibility of combining approved materials with new ones through composite tube technology—a longstanding Alleima specialty in other industries—presents an exciting avenue for innovation in nuclear applications.
Examples of materials that will be discussed in the webinar are the well known Alloy690 for SGT, Zr cladding tube material but also alloys tested and considered for Generation 4 plants like high temperature resistant austenitic stainless steels and Ni-base alloys, alumina forming ferritic and austenitic alloys. The concept of co-extruded tubes with two different alloys will also be addressed.
