Medical industry showed in the last years a high interest in photonic technologies for the development or surgical tools, diagnostic devices and, more recently, wearable instruments. The process of developing and manufacturing a photonic medical device is very complex and requires several photonic and non-photonic components combined to reach the expected functionality. Additionally, the strict regulations within the sector use to slow down the introduction of new solutions. A certified fabrication is required to launch a new product, which must be taken in account on the early phase of the development.
In this webinar, we will present MedPhab, the Europe’s first Pilot Line dedicated to the manufacturing, testing, validation and up-scaling of new photonics technologies for medical diagnostics. The purpose of MedPhab is to help in the whole process, by accelerating the commercialisation of diagnostic devices and instruments and reducing the R&D costs. All the companies and research centers involved in the Pilot Line will be presented, as well as their different capabilities and technologies, to show the audience how MedPhab can help them in every stage of the development of a medical diagnostic device based on photonic technologies.
A few use cases will be discussed to show real examples of devices developed and technologies used. These cases will cover three application areas: hospital environment, home care devices and equipment for chemical diagnostics. The audience will also learn how to participate in an open call to participate in the Pilot Line, the advantages and benefits of participating in the program and who can apply.
The development and commersialization of medical devices is a long and complicated process, and most companies need to cooperate with experts in that area to succeed. MedPhab Pilot Line offers an excellent group of research institutes and companies with experience in ISO 13485 standardized manufacturing and strong expertise in photonics. Register now to learn more about the development of a diagnostic solution for the market, some of the photonic technologies involved and how to work with a Pilot Line which will support your company in this process.
